In Memory of Jessi Shields 1994-2016

“To my beautiful daughter Jessi, it was an honor to be your mom.”

Jessi was born on January 6, 1994, at 2:20 pm and left on March 15, 2016, at 4:40 am. Jessi grew up in Naples, Florida with her sister Melani (Mel) and later her brother Sean. She attended Seacrest Country Day School through 6th Grade when she moved to Orlando for grades 7-10. She returned to Naples and Seacrest to graduate with her class in 2012, where she received the Silver Pen award for writing and the Excellence in Calculus award.

Jessi attended Barnard College of Columbia University as a pre-med student where she majored in Psychology. She was Vice President of Columbia University’s Pre-Vet Society, a member of Columbia University’s Postcrypt Art Society and Barnard College’s Extended Outreach program.

Jessi was profoundly intuitive and had a depth of understanding far beyond her years. She loved Asian culture and learned Chinese in High School, followed by Japanese in College. The only thing she loved more than makeup, her lab coat and Asian culture was every animal on earth, her sister Melani and brother Sean.

Jessi was an outstanding artist and writer and was one of the funniest, most loyal and honest human beings I have ever known. I am a better person because I was her mother.
